Dashavatar 2025, directed by veteran filmmaker Nilesh Deshmukh, has taken Marathi cinema by storm—raking in over ₹85 crore in domestic collections within its first four weeks. The film’s success marks it as the highest grossing Marathi release of the year, overtaking earlier contenders in both theatrical and digital revenue.
The movie retells all ten avatars of Lord Vishnu, weaving them into an episodic, character-driven narrative that shifts between ancient mythic settings and contemporary moral dilemmas. Critics and audiences alike have applauded the film for its ambitious scope—rare in regional mythological films—and for grounding each avatar's story in emotional conflict, rather than just grand spectacle. The sequence illustrating the Parashurama and Krishna avatars, in particular, received standing ovations during previews.
